Can my band play Tonic Ball?
The line-up is already set for 2009.
My band is playing the Tonic Ball, what do we need to bring?
With the short change-overs between bands, you will be able to plug in and play. You will not be able to bring your own amp. Plus, with so many bands playing space for gear is super-tight.
What do we do when we get there?
Swing by Fountain Square Theatre to grab your packet with the wristbands (you can do that as early as 6:00). Then check in at the venue you will be playing at least an hour before your slot time. At Radio Radio touch base with Roe Wright and at the Theatre, Ben Ericson. You’ll get all of that info, and more in a confirmation email a few days before the show.
How long do we have between sets?
It’s fast, man. 10 minutes at Radio Radio and only 5 at Fountain Square Theatre. Our goal is to keep the show moving. We’ve done it for the last six years with out a hitch.
Is there a sound check?
We’ll do a sound check on the first band, but that is it. We have the fabulous Jonee Quest (of Patio fame) running sound in Radio Radio and the expert team of Markey’s in Fountain Square Theatre.
Is there a guest list?
There is not a guest list. Each band member will get one extra wristband to bring a guest. Make sure you’re wearing your wristband. With so many musicians and people attending the Tonic Ball, we cannot expect our volunteer doormen to remember who everyone is.
We’re thirsty.
Radio Radio: You will find beer and waters in the band room in the basement.
Where does the money go?
The money raised by the Tonic Ball stays right in our community, feeding our hungry neighbors and training adults in culinary skills. You’ve got to see it to believe it. Seriously. Email Nora for lunch and a tour. nora@secondhelpings,org
She loves to show the place off.
